Caste based reservation

I was just having a discussion with my friend on a very broad topic. I had a lot to say about the topic that is why i had decided to write this post.  Today I am going to share my views on caste based reservation.

Well, we were talking about reservation , its origin, its consequence, its extent etc.

First of all, let me describe reservation. It is a special benefit given to a certain class of society in education, job and economic sector to create a sense of equality among the upper and the lower caste.

The reservation system finds its origin in the age-old caste system of India. The caste system at its birth was meant to divide people on the basis of their occupation like teaching and preaching (Brahmins), kingship and war (Kshatriya) and lastly business(vaish) etc. but soon it became an instrument to divide the society on caste-basis, creating various walls between different sections of the society.

The motive of reservation is somehow fading. Instead of creating a sense of equlaity, it is just giving birth to conflicts. I meant no disresepct to constitutional laws but saying everyone is equal inspite of their caste, gender and colour on one side and then giving reservation to some people on other side. Its really hard to understand which type of equality is this??

Like if a exam is conducted on country level,  a student scoring 105 marks did not get a college while other student who just had scored 80 marks got the college. For the same exam and same question paper such a huge difference in marks for getting the seats , i really can not say up to which extent it is right. Reserved candidates are getting the benefit here. But just ask if this is right , no i do not think so. Deserved candidate is one who scored 105 marks and still did not get the college. I.e. reserved people are better than deserved people.

This gives birth to frustation, negativity, and hatred view for the government among the deserved candidate and this does not ends here. Many are commiting suicide too. I heard student saying whether its our fault that we belong to a general cateogry. The governmet should think about this. Its high time to implement some new laws and to change some olds too. In the way of providing benefits to one class in the society, it is creating disturbance for other class. Balance between every class in the society is most important. We are living in a eduacted society and we should not let the government fool us on the name of caste.

Now coming to the solution, well its really not easy to uproot something like this which had been a part of our society since a long time. Let us assume if reservation policy is just completely erased by the government. Will it be accepted by the peoole???  Well the answer is a big no from those People who are getting benefits of reservation. They will start organising strikes beacause its human nature once they are being benefited by something they will not let that go so easily . They will keep trying to get that back. But if a slight change in the policy is brought it may work. Like instead of giving reservations in entrance exam like IIT , AIIMS , IIM government should give free  basic primary and secondary education to all of those. Teachers in the school should must be well trained. No need of mid- day meal and cycles. The students must get the benefit in education sector like one is getting in the best privates schools. The primary aim of  the school and the teacher must be making the student literate, preparing them for the tough entrance exams instead of giving them cycles and so called well nourished food. Strict norms should be implemented and should be strictly followed by the teachers and the students too.

There is a relevant quote.
” Give a man a fish you will feed him for a day, teach a person to fish you will feed him for lifetime”.

In the same way instead of giving reservations in education sector, ( seat for a college either on less marks) give them proper education, so that they can face the competition too on the same level. Give shape to their qualities, find out the good in them, make it to the best.
